Maramec is located in Pawnee county. A post office was designated on January 22nd 1894. It was originally known as Crystal for the nearby crystal springs. It was renamed on April 8th 1903 for the civil war ship the U.S.S. Merrimack and moved one mile North to be on the railroad.
