Jennings is located in Pawnee county. There are two different theories as to how Jennings got it's name. Some think it was named in honor of the townsite developer George Jennings while others believe it was named for frontier lawyer turned outlaw, Alphonzo "Al" Jennings who donated 40 acres for the 160 acre townsite. The community developed after the Cherokee Outlet opening on September 16th 1893. The post office was established on November 14th 1893.
