Cleveland is located in Pawnee county. On October 28th 1893, a post office was established by Willis H. Herbert. The town was named Herbert. Some discrepency arose and the post office department withdrew the approval of the Herbert post office. Thus the post office was moved 100 feet and on April 14th 1894 was renamed Cleveland in honor of President Grover Cleveland.
