Carmey is located in Lincoln county. It was originally a camp known as Cold Springs. The name was eventually changed to Carney for Carney Staples who helped survey the area in 1871. The post office was established  on April  9th 1892 after the land opening of September 22nd 1891 with Staples wife Addie as the postmaster.
